A Rainy Day
Punctuating thoughts that languish
on platters nourishing my day
spent with this unspoken companion,
an odorless trifling messenger
goading green things
into
pleasuring smells,
and elevating my mood to
pensive reflection.
Born in gray tumult
seeking errant lumination,
they prism light
into delightful, phantasmic
arcs.
I rush outside for a better look.
My skyward face wets around a smile
as I share secrets with myself,
giggling at God’s sustaining gift to my senses.
